For those of you following the saga ... I thought I would treat you to a picture. Even the doc said he's a beautiful boy. For now we are just waiting for Monday and the next procedure or two. I am constantly second guessing myself but I think it is smart to go this route and then consider a shunt if the fluid doesn't resolve itself. Like I said the doc did say it can take up to 3 procedures for this to resolve, if & that's a big IF I think, if its going to resolve. My OB is a bit concerned because of the risk of infection and after three procedures she says she'd be hesitant to just keep poking. Then we have to seriously think about the pros and cons of a shunt.
Pro: Could keep the fluid out of the lung continuously
Con: Difficult to place, could result in an immediate crisis (i.e. death) for the baby & possibly infection in me.
It may be our only shot though. So I am thinking ... A LOT. So much that I wish my brain would shut down and google would go off line!
